Naomi had a hard day today. I was at the hospital all day until I switched with Hubby this evening. Naomi was on a breathing tube and was being given morphine and a paralizing drug to keep her calm. It should of lasted and hour....well Naomi did not think so. She was waking up every 20-30 minutes and trying to pull at her breathing tube. She was also pulling at all her other thing-a-majigs. So they weaned her down off the vent. They then took the tube out. So she was breathing on her own. Well just the nasal breather was not enough so they put a mask on her. Her breathing still was not good. Naomi had to much "junk" in her chest and was refusing to cough to get it up. They kept having to put a suction tube down her nose to get to her throat to suction. She freaked when they did this and moved around like crazy, pulled at the tube and attempted to scream. Her oxygen levels dropped into the low
70s which is really bad they said. They were ready to run her down to the emergency operating room and use a fiberoptic camera to put the tube back in. Instead they gave her an albuteral treatment and see if that opened up the lungs some.
All while the nurses were dealing with stuff Naomi was off morphine because it was decreasing her oxygen levels. So she started to cry and rip at all her things again. They had to physically restrain her and hold the mask on as she stuck up bottom lip under it and tried to pull it off with her teeth. Finally after three hours of her oxygen going from 70 to 100, and her going crazy.....her oxygen stabilized in the mid 90s. They were then able to give her morphine. She feel asleep quickly then. It was so sad seeing her cry, big tears with no sound. It was hard watching her struggle so much. It is hard to see her in pain. It is heartbreaking. Luckily for me the Lord is providing calm and peace for me. Pray for Naomi's peace and comfort. I hope to get a better report from my husband.
Love,
Jen

Jen,
I'm so proud of all of you! I know that in the midst of this God is doing everything He can (which is everything!) to bless you and protect you and heal your precious girl. I know that when this ordeal is over God will help it fade to a distant memory, and all will be well.
Tell everyone I said hello!
Megan
